Soul Hawaii - also known as Hawaiian Soul

Mike Norris, Bass Guitar, Background Vocals

Michael “Mike” Norris- Bass, Vocals

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA., Mike taught himself to play lead guitar and then bass, at the age of 11. When he was 13, he co-founded his first band that later became successful enough around the Philadelphia, Delaware and New Jersey Tri-State area to be offered a recording contract with Philly International Records. Ultimately, not liking the behind-the-scenes environment of professional recording in Philadelphia, he left the group and joined the U.S. Navy, where he started another band (which included his own brother on bass) that performed overseas for audiences in England, Norway, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden and the Madeira Islands, and won them recognition in military newspapers and publications.

Besides keeping the bottom line going for Hawaiian Soul, he also plays bass for the latin group, Salsa Hawaii, and is the music director at his church. His favorite styles of music include jazz, R&B, funk, blues and rock, and his musical influences include Stanley Clarke, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson and Marcus Miller, among many others.
